Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Snailock website and your purchase of any products offered through it. Snailock is an artistic bookshop owned and operated by Deea International LLC (“Snailock”, “we”, “us” or “our”). By accessing the site, creating an account, or placing an order, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, to place an order or create an account. By purchasing, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are authorised to use the payment method supplied.

2. Our products

Snailock books are printed on demand: each copy is individually manufactured by our print-and-fulfilment partner after your order is confirmed, and then shipped directly to you. All illustrations, decorative artwork, and interface designs on this site are created in-house (CSS and SVG) and are not licensed from third parties. Product images and descriptions are provided for reference; minor variations in colour, trim, or finish inherent to print-on-demand manufacturing are normal and do not constitute a defect.

3. Orders and acceptance

Your submission of an order is an offer to purchase. A contract is formed only when we confirm the order and payment has been authorised. We reserve the right to refuse, limit, or cancel any order (including after confirmation) for reasons such as suspected fraud, errors in pricing or product information, or unavailability. If we cancel an order for which you have been charged, we will issue a full refund to your original payment method.

4. Pricing and taxes

Prices are displayed in US dollars (USD) unless stated otherwise and are recalculated on our servers at checkout, so the amount charged is always the correct, current price for the items in your cart. Shipping charges are calculated at checkout based on your delivery address and chosen method. You are responsible for any import duties, customs fees, or taxes that may apply in your destination country.

5. Payment

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details. The charge on your bank or card statement will appear as Deea International LLC. By submitting payment, you represent that you are authorised to use the payment method provided.

6. Shipping, delivery and returns

Because every book is made to order, delivery takes longer than for stocked items. Production and shipping times, delivery destinations, tracking, and our returns and refunds policy are described on our Shipping & Returns page, which forms part of these Terms.

Your books are manufactured and shipped by our print-on-demand partner (Lulu), not by Snailock directly. Delivery times are estimates, not guarantees, and may be affected by customs, an incorrect address, or the carrier. Once a parcel is handed to the carrier, delivery is outside our control, and Snailock is not liable for delays, loss, or damage that occur in transit. If your order is significantly delayed, lost, or arrives damaged, contact us and we will help you obtain a reprint or file a claim through Lulu.

7. Accounts

You may browse and purchase as a guest or create a free account to save your reading journal, order history, and reviews. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activity under it. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

8. Reviews and user content

If you submit reviews or other content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display and use that content in connection with the site. You are responsible for what you post and must not submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, infringing, or abusive. We may edit or remove content that breaches these Terms, and limit each account to one review per book.

9. Intellectual property

The Snailock name, logo, site design, and all original artwork are owned by Deea International LLC and are protected by intellectual-property laws. The contents of the books remain the property of their respective authors and rights holders. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or resell any part of the site or the books without our prior written permission.

10. Authors: your work and your rights

If you publish through Snailock, you retain full copyright in your text and your cover artwork. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, revocable licence to reproduce, print, distribute, sell, and display your book and its cover for the purpose of operating the shop and promoting your work. This licence is not exclusive: you remain free to publish and sell the same work through any other channel at the same time. If you withdraw your book, we cease offering it for sale; copies already manufactured and sold remain with their purchasers, and orders already placed will be fulfilled.

By uploading a book, you represent and warrant that you are its author or an authorised rights holder, and that every element you submit is yours to use. That includes the text, all interior images, the cover artwork, any photographs, and any typeface for which a commercial licence is required. You further warrant that the work is not defamatory, does not infringe any third party's intellectual-property, privacy, or publicity rights, and complies with applicable law.

You agree to indemnify Deea International LLC against any claim, loss, or expense arising from a breach of these warranties. Where a rights holder notifies us of a credible infringement claim, we may suspend the sale of the affected title while we investigate, and may remove it permanently. Print-on-demand distributes a work at scale; the responsibility for what is inside it rests with its author.

11. The design library

Snailock provides authors with a design library of illustrations, icons, shapes, and textures for use in cover and interior design. Every item in the library is either (a) original artwork created by or for Snailock, or (b) a work in the public domain, including works released under a CC0 dedication by the museum or archive that holds them. The library contains no stock imagery obtained under a third-party licence.

Subject to these Terms, we grant each author a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, modify, crop, recolour, and combine library items in the covers and interiors of books published through Snailock, and to sell those books without volume limit or additional payment. No attribution is required, although attribution to the original painter is welcome.

This licence does not permit you to extract library items and distribute or resell them as assets, whether as a clip-art collection, a template pack, a design library of your own, or any product whose value lies in the artwork itself rather than in the book you made with it.

A public-domain work is free for everyone, including us, you, and any other author. Using such a work in your cover grants you no exclusivity over the underlying work: another author may lawfully use the same painting. Any copyright you acquire subsists in your own composition, not in the public-domain element you incorporated.

Regarding AI-generated imagery: authors may use it, but should be aware that in several jurisdictions, including the United States, material generated without meaningful human authorship is not eligible for copyright protection. Snailock makes no representation as to the protectability of such material, and the warranties in section 10 apply to it in full.

12. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the site, including by attempting to gain unauthorised access, interfering with its operation, scraping data, manipulating prices, or using it for any unlawful purpose.

13. Disclaimers

The site and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, except those that cannot be excluded under applicable law. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Deea International LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or any product. Our total liability in connection with any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have that cannot be lawfully excluded.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Deea International LLC from any claims, losses, or expenses arising out of your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the site.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in effect is the one published on this page, with the “last updated” date shown above. Changes apply to orders placed after they are posted; your continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of the current Terms.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to Deea International LLC’s place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be subject to the competent courts of that jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection law provides otherwise.

Snailock es una librería artística propiedad de Deea International LLC (“Snailock”, “nosotros”), que la opera. Al acceder al sitio, crear una cuenta o realizar un pedido, reconoces que has leído, entendido y aceptas quedar vinculado por estos Términos. Si no estás de acuerdo, por favor no uses el sitio.

1. Elegibilidad

Debes tener al menos 18 años, o contar con el consentimiento y la supervisión de tu madre, padre o tutor legal, para realizar un pedido o crear una cuenta. Al comprar, confirmas que la información que proporcionas es correcta y que estás autorizado a usar el método de pago facilitado.

2. Nuestros productos

Los libros de Snailock se imprimen bajo demanda: cada copia se fabrica de forma individual a través de nuestro socio de impresión y logística tras confirmar tu pedido, y luego se te envía directamente. Todas las ilustraciones, el arte decorativo y los diseños de interfaz de este sitio se crean internamente (CSS y SVG) y no están licenciados de terceros. Las imágenes y descripciones son orientativas; pequeñas variaciones de color, corte o acabado, propias de la impresión bajo demanda, son normales y no constituyen un defecto.

3. Pedidos y aceptación

El envío de un pedido es una oferta de compra. El contrato se forma solo cuando confirmamos el pedido y el pago ha sido autorizado. Nos reservamos el derecho de rechazar, limitar o cancelar cualquier pedido (incluso tras la confirmación) por motivos como sospecha de fraude, errores de precio o de información del producto, o falta de disponibilidad. Si cancelamos un pedido por el que se te ha cobrado, te reembolsaremos por completo al método de pago original.

4. Precios e impuestos

Los precios se muestran en dólares estadounidenses (USD) salvo que se indique lo contrario y se recalculan en nuestros servidores al pagar, de modo que el importe cobrado es siempre el precio correcto y actual de los artículos de tu carrito. Los gastos de envío se calculan al pagar según tu dirección y el método elegido. Eres responsable de los aranceles, tasas aduaneras o impuestos de importación que puedan aplicarse en tu país de destino.

5. Pago

Los pagos se procesan de forma segura mediante Stripe. No recibimos ni almacenamos los datos completos de tu tarjeta. El cargo en tu extracto bancario o de tarjeta aparecerá como Deea International LLC. Al enviar el pago, declaras que estás autorizado a usar el método de pago proporcionado.

6. Envío, entrega y devoluciones

Como cada libro se hace por encargo, la entrega tarda más que en productos en stock. Los tiempos de producción y envío, los destinos, el seguimiento y nuestra política de devoluciones y reembolsos se describen en nuestra página de Envíos y Devoluciones, que forma parte de estos Términos.

Tus libros los fabrica y envía nuestro socio de impresión bajo demanda (Lulu), no Snailock directamente. Los plazos de entrega son estimados, no garantizados, y pueden verse afectados por aduanas, una dirección incorrecta o el transportista. Una vez el paquete se entrega al transportista, la entrega queda fuera de nuestro control y Snailock no se hace responsable de retrasos, extravíos o daños ocurridos durante el transporte. Si tu pedido se retrasa mucho, no llega o llega dañado, escríbenos y te ayudaremos a conseguir una reimpresión o una reclamación a través de Lulu.

7. Cuentas

Puedes navegar y comprar como invitado o crear una cuenta gratuita para guardar tu diario de lectura, historial de pedidos y reseñas. Eres responsable de mantener la confidencialidad de tu cuenta y de toda actividad realizada con ella. Avísanos de inmediato de cualquier uso no autorizado. Podemos suspender o cerrar cuentas que incumplan estos Términos.

8. Reseñas y contenido del usuario

Si envías reseñas u otro contenido, nos concedes una licencia no exclusiva, mundial y libre de regalías para mostrar y usar ese contenido en relación con el sitio. Eres responsable de lo que publicas y no debes enviar contenido ilegal, difamatorio, infractor o abusivo. Podemos editar o retirar contenido que incumpla estos Términos, y limitar cada cuenta a una reseña por libro.

9. Propiedad intelectual

El nombre Snailock, el logotipo, el diseño del sitio y todo el arte original son propiedad de Deea International LLC y están protegidos por las leyes de propiedad intelectual. El contenido de los libros sigue siendo propiedad de sus autores y titulares de derechos. No puedes copiar, reproducir, distribuir ni revender ninguna parte del sitio o de los libros sin nuestro permiso previo por escrito.

10. Autoras: tu obra y tus derechos

Si publicas en Snailock, conservas íntegramente los derechos de autor de tu texto y de tu portada. Nos concedes una licencia no exclusiva, mundial y revocable para reproducir, imprimir, distribuir, vender y mostrar tu libro y su portada, con el fin de operar la tienda y promocionar tu obra. Esta licencia no es exclusiva: sigues siendo libre de publicar y vender la misma obra por cualquier otro canal al mismo tiempo. Si retiras tu libro, dejamos de ofrecerlo a la venta; las copias ya fabricadas y vendidas permanecen con quienes las compraron, y los pedidos ya realizados se completarán.

Al subir un libro, declaras y garantizas que eres su autora o titular autorizada de los derechos, y que todos los elementos que envías son tuyos. Eso incluye el texto, todas las imágenes del interior, el arte de la portada, cualquier fotografía y cualquier tipografía que requiera licencia comercial. Garantizas además que la obra no es difamatoria, no vulnera derechos de propiedad intelectual, privacidad o imagen de terceros, y cumple la ley aplicable.

Aceptas mantener indemne a Deea International LLC frente a cualquier reclamación, pérdida o gasto derivado del incumplimiento de estas garantías. Cuando un titular de derechos nos notifique una reclamación creíble por infracción, podremos suspender la venta del título afectado mientras lo investigamos, y podremos retirarlo de forma definitiva. La impresión bajo demanda distribuye una obra a escala; la responsabilidad de lo que hay dentro recae en su autora.

11. La galería de recursos

Snailock pone a disposición de las autoras una galería de recursos con ilustraciones, iconos, formas y texturas para el diseño de portadas e interiores. Cada pieza de la galería es (a) arte original creado por o para Snailock, o (b) una obra en dominio público, incluidas las liberadas bajo una dedicación CC0 por el museo o archivo que las custodia. La galería no contiene imágenes de bancos obtenidas bajo licencia de terceros.

Con sujeción a estos Términos, concedemos a cada autora una licencia no exclusiva, libre de regalías y mundial para usar, modificar, recortar, recolorear y combinar las piezas de la galería en las portadas e interiores de los libros publicados a través de Snailock, y para vender esos libros sin límite de volumen ni pago adicional. No se exige atribución, aunque atribuir la obra a su pintor original es bienvenido.

Esta licencia no te permite extraer las piezas y distribuirlas o revenderlas como piezas, ya sea como colección de clip-art, paquete de plantillas, galería de recursos propia o cualquier producto cuyo valor resida en el arte en sí y no en el libro que hiciste con él.

Una obra de dominio público es libre para todo el mundo, incluidas nosotras, tú y cualquier otra autora. Usarla en tu portada no te otorga ninguna exclusividad sobre la obra subyacente: otra autora puede usar legítimamente el mismo cuadro. Los derechos que adquieres recaen sobre tu propia composición, no sobre el elemento de dominio público que incorporaste.

Sobre las imágenes generadas con inteligencia artificial: las autoras pueden usarlas, pero deben saber que en varias jurisdicciones, Estados Unidos entre ellas, el material generado sin autoría humana significativa no es susceptible de protección por derechos de autor. Snailock no hace ninguna declaración sobre la protegibilidad de dicho material, y las garantías de la sección 10 le son plenamente aplicables.

12. Uso aceptable

Te comprometes a no hacer un uso indebido del sitio, incluyendo intentar acceder sin autorización, interferir con su funcionamiento, extraer datos, manipular precios o usarlo con cualquier fin ilícito.

13. Exenciones de garantía

El sitio y su contenido se ofrecen “tal cual” y “según disponibilidad”, sin garantías de ningún tipo, expresas o implícitas, salvo aquellas que no puedan excluirse por la ley aplicable. No garantizamos que el sitio funcione sin interrupciones ni errores.

14. Limitación de responsabilidad

En la máxima medida permitida por la ley, Deea International LLC no será responsable de daños indirectos, incidentales o consecuentes derivados de tu uso del sitio o de cualquier producto. Nuestra responsabilidad total en relación con cualquier pedido se limita al importe que pagaste por ese pedido. Nada en estos Términos limita los derechos que no puedan excluirse legalmente.

15. Indemnización

Aceptas indemnizar y eximir de responsabilidad a Deea International LLC frente a cualquier reclamación, pérdida o gasto derivado de tu incumplimiento de estos Términos o del uso indebido del sitio.

16. Cambios en estos Términos

Podemos actualizar estos Términos de vez en cuando. La versión vigente es la publicada en esta página, con la fecha de “última actualización” mostrada arriba. Los cambios se aplican a los pedidos realizados tras su publicación; el uso continuado del sitio constituye la aceptación de los Términos vigentes.

17. Ley aplicable

Estos Términos se rigen por las leyes aplicables al domicilio de Deea International LLC, sin atender a los principios sobre conflicto de leyes. Cualquier disputa se someterá a los tribunales competentes de dicha jurisdicción, salvo que la legislación imperativa de protección al consumidor disponga otra cosa.
